Additional names discovered by personal research, from affidavits and other sources in Roane County.
Abraham Bogard (Bogart) of Va fought at the Battle of Kings Mountain. In Roane, he lived on the TN River. He married secondly the widow of the Hon. George Preston.
John Brashears lived with the Brashears clan in Sugar Grove Valley for 5 or 7 years. His military records show that he was born in Orange County, NC in 1760. He entered service in 1780, and fought in the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. After the War, he lived in NC, SC, KY, TN and AL. [may be different John B.??]
Col. Thomas Butler was at one time the commanding officer at Fort South West Point. He took part in Roane County affairs.
Azariah David appears in Roane records. Fought in Battle of Kings Mountain.
Surry Davis was a Rev. War soldier from SC. An affidavit on file shows that he died in Roane in 1846 without a widow, but with children, including a daughter Margaret Stegall, and a son Granville Davis.
Samuel Hall was in Roane before 1807 (Book B, p 388) and had bought a farm, mill and distillery from John Smith T. He later moved to Morgan County. He is buried in the Elizabeth Church Graveyard, and has a DAR marker at his grave.
Michael Hassler, II, lived on Poplar Creek and left many descendants.
William Terrill Lewis owned 1000 acres across Clinch from Kingston. He fought in the Battle of Kings Mountain.
Major William L. Lovely was one of the first City Commissioners for Kingston.
Robert McCorkle was active in Roane. He is shown in Summer’s List.
Col. Return J. Meigs was in charge of the Indian Agency at Fort South West Point, and after the Agency was moved down the TN River.
Capt. James Richardson served under Gen. John Sevier. He also fought in the Battle of Kings Mountain. He operated the first ferry across Clinch River under an agreement with the Indian Agency (later operated by Thomas N. Clark). Richardson served as Sheriff of Greene County from 1787 until 1792.
Joshua Roberts owned 100 acres on TN River in Roane. He later moved to Morgan County, and had moved to MO by 1837.
Moses Russell, Sr., fought at the Battle of Kings Mountain. He was related to the Owings family of Rockwood by marriage. He also lived in Morgan County.
Capt. Richard Sparks was the son-in-law of Governor John Sevier. Richard “Dickie” was reared as a boy by the Indians. He was stationed at South West Point.

Alexander Wiley fought at Kings Mountain. In Roane, he lived on Poplar Creek.
Arthur Galbreath lived on the East Fork of Poplar Creek adjoining Nicholas Nail. He fought in the Battle of Kings Mountain.
Jonathan Davis [submitted by Charles (no surname)] died 14 Jul 1831 in Roane County, TN (according to pension application). His widow, Elizabeth, applied for pension in Anderson County, TN on 4 July 1836. Pension #R2716. He probably is the Jonathan Davis living in Roane County on the 1830 census, next to his son, James Davis, also identified in the pension application. Other sons listed are William and John Davis.
