Note on original compilation: “I tried to copy the list verbatim….even placing the periods where they don’t quite belong. I added just 1 or 2 notes …. obvious things. Cash researcher Louise Bryant Rogers provided my with the infomation. If anyone needs a point of contact for Monroe Cash or Stephen Ford … my email is: [removed]. Monroe was Louise and [my] 2nd great grandfather. He joined this unit in Knoxville, TN in Jan. 1862…..went to Welcker‘s TN Cav. Bn in late 1863 and then back to this same unit…the 5th early in 1864 to War’s end. Stephen Ford was his wife’s relative. I think the James Edgeman is the same as Pollard Edgemond at: http://www.tennessee-scv.org/heroes/edgemond.htm or James is his brother. A lot of these guys went by their middle name …. my Monroe was James Monroe Cash b. 1826 TN, but he went by Monroe. Hope this may provide something good to others.
Submitters note: These men surrendered at War’s end in Charlotte, NC as a part of the 5th Tennessee Cavalry (McKenzie’s), Co. B (Blythe’s), and accordingly some of the members who had fought w/ the unit previous to May 3rd, 1865 are not listed.
