The following information came from the Old Roane County Historical Society Newsletter, Vol. 3, No. 7, October 1972

Many persons in Roane County are descendants of Green and Sarah Cooper Bowers.  About 1825, Green Bowers came to Tennessee with his wife and at least part of his children.  Mrs. O. R. Heather, of Hamilton, Missouri sent [1972] the following information copied from the family Bible that belonged to James Mitchell Bowers, the youngest child of Green and Sarah Cooper Bowers.
