CARNEY, William Henry 9 June 1880 – 16 Feb 1974
CARNEY, William Henry, 92, of the Old Washington community, Rt. 1, Dayton, Tenn., died in a Chattanooga hospital early Saturday morning. He was the son of the late Jim and Rebecca Franklin Carney, pioneer settlers of Rhea County. He was a retired farmer, and was of the Methodist faith. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Edna Gideon of Rt. 1, Dayton; Mrs. Una Brown, Pontiac, Mich., and Mrs. Amy Scroggins, Cumberland, N.C.; five sons, Wayne Carney, Louisville, Ky.; Jack and George Carney, both of Pontiac; Brownie Carney, Hixson; Alfred Ray Carney, C. Sgt. M, U.S. Army, Germany; one brother, Mynatt Carney, Rt. 1 Dayton; 24 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The body will remain at the funeral home. Arrangements will be announced by Coulter-Garrison-Green Funeral Home, Dayton.
