CARNEY, MRS. CORA L., 75, Graysville, Tenn., lifelong resident of Rhea County, died early Sunday night in a Rhea County hospital. She was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Montgomery Clark. She was a member of the Old Washington Baptist church and a former school teacher of Rhea County. She is survived by her husband, J. A. Carney, Graysville; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth Smith, Hopkinsville, Ky.; one son, Clark Carney, Hixson, Tenn., five grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. I. L. Mathis, Graysville; two brothers, Jeff Clark, Dayton; Fred Clark, Hixson; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ernest Clark. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:30 from the Old Washington Baptist Church with the Rev. J. L. Gates and Don Nelms officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before the service. Burial in Rhea Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Bill Pefrey, Raso Polston, Fred Mullins, Oscar Sharp, Ray Perry and Lee Paylor. Honorary pallbearers will be E. L. Tipps, Melvin Green, Dr. J. J. Rodgers, J. M. Abel, Earl Garrison, Finley Taylor, Grover Aikman, Ed Hicks, Ed Pierce, Fred Dennis and Spurgeon Harrison. The body is at the funeral home. Sawyers, Dayton in charge.
