I am searching for the ancestors of Sarah QUEENER. She was born in McMinn Co., TN. Abt. 1838. On 8 February 1852 or 1854 in Polk Co., TN Sarah marries Matthew Tolbert ARTHUR. In the fall of 1879 they moved to McLennen Co., TX; finally settling in Baylor, Co., TX. Their children were Mary (Mollie), Allie, Julie, Joe, John and Henry. Your help in identifying the parents Sarah QUEENER will be appreciated.

Willaim O. Barnes, dob Nov 10, 1793 - dod July 12,1987 is buried in Friendship Baptist Cem. in Polk County. His wife, Lucinda Amanda Johnson, dob July 14,1819, dodFeb 17, 1894 is also buried there. They lived from abt. 1838 in the very north part of Bradley County near Polk County line until his death. I have fairly complete info on his descendants but nothing about his sibs, parents or origin. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Im looking for information on the "Town of Pierce". I found the town on an 1895 Polk County map. It was located north of Turtletown and Ducktown. Does anyone have any information on this town. When did it die?

Looking for any information on WILLIAM MCKINLEY BURNS,who married Alwayne Brookshire in 1923 in Polk County. His father was called Buck Burns and his mother was Dolly Smith Burns. His father was full blooded Cherokee, as was his Burns grandparents. There names were listed on the Trail of Tears, and they received checks from the goverment, we were told. I am at a loss, any information would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to trace my family background. I came to TN a coupleyears and got a few leads. My great grandfather was JOHN T KANUPP mygreat grandmother was MARY ELIZABETH WAMBLE born 3/29/1849 died Dec29,1936. both of Polk county TN. She I'm told was a full bloodCherokee. I only have hand written documents which were wittnessedand the statment of a cousin I met while in TN. Because my parentsdied when I was 11 I am on my own in my search.

John D. Nelson and his parents moved to Ducktown, Polk County. I have evidence, but not primary evidence, that John D. Nelson's mother was Nancy Elizabeth (Butler) Nelson (born ~1797 died after 1855) and his father was John Sterling Nelson (born ~1798 died 1855). The Nelson family may have been livig with Archibald Nelson, the brother of John Sterling Nelson in January 1830. John D. Nelson (b 1825 d 1918) was in or near Ducktown, Tenn. on Jan. 5, 1830. This comes from a submittal on an application given to the Church of the Latter Day Saints. I am guessing the John Sterling Nelson family moved back to GA in the late 1830's, therefore John Daniel would have attended public school in Ducktown or a town near Ducktown. I offer $300 award to anyone who can supply me with a photocopy of a primary record that states the names of the parents of John Daniel. I will give the $300 to only the first person who supplies me with the primary evidence. Please call me if you would like to search for the primary record.

Susanah Dennis, 1834-1886, married W. A. Green in 1856. Susanah is found on the 1880 Polk Co. census with sons Isaac b about 1857 and Andrew b about 1860 and Andrew's wife Florance and daughter Jennie 6/12ths. Susanah was daughter of Owen Corn Dennis and Deborah Greene; W. A.'s parents are not known. Have not been able to locate this family in 1860 and 1870. Any information appreciated; have lots to share on the Dennis family.

My gg-grandmother Elizabeth Jane Duggan was b 1835 probably in TN to Samuel and Sarah Pursley Duggan. She married my gg-grandfather Elisha Dennis in 1850; he died in 1858. Elizabeth is found on the 1880 Polk Co. census as Elizabeth Cass; listed with her is her daughter Deborah A. Lillard and her daughter Ida. Would like to know when and where Elizabeth died and is buried.

My g grandfather, Luther G.(Jerry) BUICE, last known living in Ducktown,Oct 1912. Attended funeral of his brother, Alonzo, in Atlanta with his wife. Any information helpful. Luther is the son of Henry H. BUICE and Susannah (Susan) MATHIS. Father of Mary Kathryn BUICE.
