HANCOCK

I have recently found my Cherokee Ancestor. He was born Cherokee Tribe, Indian Terrtiory in 1815. He married 1835 to Elizabeth, don't know her maiden name. I have him on 1850 census for Fannin Co., Ga. Also 1860 & 1870. On the U. S. census it said he was born in Va. What I am trying to find out is what counties in Va. were part of the Cherokee Nation in 1815. I have been told he was what Dragging Canoe called "Cousins", Delaware Cherokee. Does anyone know about where the tribe was loccated before & after 1815? I would appreciate anything anyone might have on the Delaware Cherokee tribe. Have been looking for months for information. My ancestor's name is Layton, Leyton or Laten Hancock. Thank you.

They lived in Monroe or Polk County, TN. All the Dotson's I have spoken with believe Ida HARRIS was a Cherokee Indian. Early in the 80's I spoke with Mary DOTSON (married), daughter of Henry Dotson. She gave me a picture of Henry and Ida, claiming Ida was a Cherokee. Ida had long black hair below her waist, and a dark complexion. The name Ida J. HARRIS, along with some penciled in Ida HARRIS are shown on the Index to Applications Submitted for the Eastern Cherokee Roll of 1909 (Guion Miller Roll).. If you have any information on Ida HARRIS, and her prior lineage, please contact me. The data below, is from the book "Early Families of Vonore", in Tennessee. HENRY DOTSON (son of JOHN FLOYD and Martha AMMONS). Henry married IDA HARRIS. Children of HENRY DOTSON and IDA HARRIS are MARY,POLLY,Cleve, and WALTER,b.1903(my Grandfather).

DANIEL SMITH

Does anyone have information on the Daniel Smith buried in Ducktown Cemetary? He could possibly be my g-g-g-grandfather, but I don't have anyway to support that.

PACK

Looking for possible Cherokee connection for Jeremiah PACK b.1794, said to be son of Smith PACK, SR. or Wood PACK. Jeremiah had one brother Thomas PACK, and possibly William Shorey PACK. Sources claiming William Shorey PACK and Elizabeth LOWREY cannot be correct because the dates are off by a generation.

FREELAMD, HIGDON

I am looking for information on my g.g.grandmother, RACHEL FREELAND, married to JAMES ANDERSON HIGDON.Family Tradition is that she was at least part Cherokee. I found them in the 1870 Polk Co. census, married with children. Then again, I found an application for Rachel and a person I believe to be one of her children on the Guion Miller Rolls. Rachel's father may have been HOWELL FREELAND (FELAND), mother ZELPHA (SELPHA) Campbell. Any information to help me out will be greatly appreciated.
