Perry County, Tennessee

War of 1812 Soldier Project

  • The objective of this project is to compile a complete list for soldiers and sources who lived in Perry County Tennessee and fought in the War of 1812.

  • This will be an ongoing project.

  • As more online sources about Perry County soldiers are posted and discovered, they will be indexed to this project.

If you know of any source for the War of 1812 soldiers that have mention of Perry County residents, please transcribe the information for the Perry County soldiers and e-mail it to Jan Monnin, your Perry County TnGenWeb coordinator.  We will then index it into this project.

Kelly, William Thomas Tennessee Volunteer Mounted First Regiment

William Kelly Cemetery

My 3rd G Grandfather, William Kelly,  was awarded a 440 Land Grant from the state of TN, Perry County in 1846.

He was in the war of 1812 but I'm not sure of reason for the Land Grant (TN No. 28525).

Cost was 12.5 Cents per acre ($55.00).  That was nearly two years worth of his father's (James Kelly S1544 Pension Application) Revolutionary war pension ($30.00/Ann)
