ROAD NAME CHANGES

- Bell Street became College Street
- Howard Street became Bank Street
- Mary Street became Church Street*
- Bragg Alley became Dobbins Street
(*Mary became West Church. East Church was always known as Church.)

- East Florida Avenue was originally Mathews Street.
- West Leah Street was originally Fort (Foot) Street.
- West Vine Street was originally Hoosier Street.
- West Main Street was originally Water Street.
- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive was originally Grove Street.
- South Division Street was originally Bank Street.
SUBDIVISIONS
- Area north of Vine Street and east of Division Street – known originally as C. N. Gibbs’ Addition
- Area north of Leah Street and between Division and Second Streets – known originally as A. W. Campbell’s Addition.
- Area east of Home Street and south of Vine Street – known originally as J. H. Roulhac’s Addition
- Area between Summer Street, railroad, Home Street, and Flower Street – known originally as F. W. Mathews’ Addition.
J. H. Roulhac’s Addition is the oldest planned subdivision in Union City. It was established in 1884.

Shannon Arthur – September 30th, 2021: Another road change that I know of is “Bethel Hollow Road.” That is what it was called when my Mother was young and now it’s called “Bethel Church Road.” This is the road where all my family lived.
(Bethel Church Road is about 10 miles west of Union City.)
