The following from <wtaylor (at) widomaker.com> March 24, 2001
The plot containing the cemetery, belonged to the TAYLOR family, and was listed as “The TAYLOR Cemetery on the TAYLOR Farm.” in family records, but the location was lost for a time. William F. (Frederick?) is my ggg grandfather. His father, Frederick 1795-1843, is not in the family plot, and I have references that he is in the Cane Creek Cemetery, but am not sure. Part of that cemetery is grown up in trees and bushes and he is not listed as being buried there.
In July 2000 I was in Martin and went looking for the TAYLOR cemetery. By almost sheer luck, and knocking on a few doors, I found it. Then I found out that Eugene McSPADDEN had owned the house in front of it, now owned by Mary Jane and Gene TURNER. My sister and I both remember visiting “Mr. Eugene” when we were children with our Grandfather, Dr. Lemuel Emerson TAYLOR, a Martin dentist. BUT he never said anything about his Grandmother and Grandfather being buried some 50 yards away, nor did he ever tell my Father.
My Father was named for William F. (Frederick?) TAYLOR as far as we know. I’m still trying to pin down his middle name. Dad knew nothing about his Great Grandfather, or the location of the family plot, and we all were born and grew up in Martin.
I have William F.’s fathers name Frederick TAYLOR 1795-1843. He died in Obion, but I have been unable to find his grave. Frederick is my Stone Wall. He moved to Obion Co. from Stewart County about 1826. I know from the 1830 census that he had 5 children and a wife, but William was the only one who we had a name for, nor did I have Frederick’s wife’s name either.
In searching the Obion census records I finally saw a notation that Mary TAYLOR b. 1798, and George TAYLOR b. 1828, lived next door to William. His Mother and Brother. Finally. If anyone comes across their death records I would appreciate hearing from them. I believe George is buried in the Stovall cemetery near Mt. Pelia. I have no idea where Frederick and his wife are buried. He was a prosperous farmer and I would imagine there would be nice gravestones for them somewhere.
I sent the above in some years ago and later found out that the information on William F. Taylor is incorrect. How can I rectify the error?
The Civil war hero is William Foster TAYLOR, not William Frederick TAYLOR. I learned this some years after posting the above. All other information is correct.
Hello William L Taylor, I would like to talk with you sometime. I own the property that the Taylor cemetery is on . Interested in learning more about your family that lived here. Thanks, Shane
Absolutely, my Sister and I cleaned up the Taylor Cemetery twice after finding it. I did not know it’s location but that it was close to ?Rives. I went to several houses on the main road and finally found a lady who told me there the McSpadden house was.
My sister and I were born and raise in Martin. Our Grandfather took us to visit Cousin Eugene MCsPADDEN. He never mentioned that his grandparents were buried near the homested. My father did not know of the cemetery either.Cows had turned several headstones over and I repaired them. In doing so I accidentally switched William’s and his wife’s headstones. I could not switch them back as the cement had set. Markers at the foot show the correwct plcement. You may email me at wtaylor20 [at] cox [dot] net

Absolutely, My Taylor family came from NC to Stewart Colunty TN by wagon and settled in Stewart County then some years later moved to Obion County,TN
Names of son’s match closely to sons of a Taylor family in NC. Frederick Taylor had a son William F ? Taylor, whose middle name I could never pin down. I would be more than happy to help you as you pinned down William Frederick’s Middle name. Is that SOLID?
