Long School
The Long School (School Dist. 53) was located in Civil District 9 on the Minnick-Elbridge Road somewhere across from the intersection of the current Buryl Larry Road, as denoted on a 1925 Reelfoot Lake area map. The land for the school was donated by Reece R. Long in 1881 and it was probably established around that date. A September 1901 list reports 55 students at Long School. It was also referred to as the Stevens’ Ridge Schoolhouse in 1902.
The teacher for the 1920-21 school year was Flossie Williams.
The teacher fo the 1922-23 school year was Novella Wilkerson.
