- Obion County History, Volumes 1 & 2 – Obion County Historical Society – contains hundreds of family histories and information regarding some schools, churches, communities, and other various sites in Obion County (index of family histories)
- Obion County History – E. H. Marshall – contains 272 pages of Obion County history from the time of the county’s organization up to 1941. The book is available online here, and an index compiled by R. C. Forrester is available here.
- Cemeteries of Obion County, Tennessee, Volume 1 – Bill Threlkeld and M. H. Stubblefield – contains cemetery readings for 58 cemeteries in the northern third of Obion County. Published 1986.
- Cemeteries of Obion County, Volume 2 – Bill Threlkeld and Mary Ann Overman – contains cemetery readings for cemeteries located in the central third of the county. Published 1990.
- I Had a Real Good Time – the Making of a County Editor – Rebel Forrester and Betty Wood – This book includes the recollections of James M. Brice, 1852-1926, editor of the local News-Banner newspaper. An excerpt of the book is on this site.
- Now Let’s Go Back – Ed Dietzel Remembers Early Union City – Obion County Historical Society, R. C. Forrester – includes information and recollections of Ed Dietzel, compiled from personal interviews with Dietzel.
- Glory and Tears – R. C. Forrester – includes the history of Obion County during the Civil War and Reconstruction Era. Also includes a 51-page historical sketch of the Obion Avalanche, written in 1922 by John Cavanaugh.
- Once Upon a Time in Rives – A History of Rives, Obion County, Tennessee – Alberta Kitchell Allen – Published in 1969, contains the history of Rives with over 100 photos included.
- The Historic Reelfoot Lake Region – An Early History of the People and Places of Western Obion and Present Day Lake County – David G. Hayes – includes the history of the aforementioned areas from pre-historic times up to the case of the Night Riders in the early 1900s.
- A Time Returned – A Pictorial History of Obion County, Tennessee – Bill and Charlene Threlkeld – contains nearly 300 photos of various sites and people of Obion County.
- Mason Hall Community History – Haywood Green – a history of the Mason Hall community and surrounding area. This book also includes a section containing biographies of local families.
- The Sleeping Beauty of Obion County – R. C. Forrester – a short history of Obion County’s “Sleeping Beauty” – Susan Caroline Godsey, of the Crystal community.
- Sabin – A Time Returned: 1919 – 1924 – Obion County Museum – contains 26 of Verne and Nonie Sabin’s photos of Reelfoot Lake and downtown Union City scenes
- Doing Our Job – Obion Countians in WWII – R. C. Forrester and Bill Threlkeld – a collection of oral histories of Obion County and its residents during the World War II era.
- Reelfoot Lake Treasures – Lexie Leonard – contains information regarding places on and around Reelfoot Lake in western Obion County, including some of the history of the area.
- Footlights and Flickers – The History of Theatre in Union City – R. C. Forrester – a history of theatres and opera houses in Union City
- Harris Station: A History of Totten Wells, Jacksonville, and Harris Station – Jason T. Faulkner – contains the history of three communities in northeastern Obion County, primarily focusing on Harris Station. Also includes some information about Totten Wells, one of the earliest settled communities in the county, and nearby Jacksonville.
- Bound for the Promised Land: A History of the Early Churches of Obion County, Tennessee, and Surrounding Areas – David G. Hayes, 2021.
