Wickyclark [at] aol [dot] com, March 06, 2004, I am the granddaughter of Lou Etta Hall Walls. My Father was Lloyd. I remember all her sisters but Kate. I never knew she had a sister named Kate. I knew the aunt Kate she talked about. I have a picture of Elmira Featherston Hall and her daughter Matt or Martha, and Uncle Sid, their two daughters Annie Eunice and Vinnie and Aunt Kate McFarland's daughter. Her name escapes me  right this moment. Elmira Hall was my great grandmother although she died long before I was born. My grandma Etta was a slight woman and the picture seems to indicate Elmira was short, too. Have enjoyed your report of the family one that I had no idea about. Never heard the surname Gwaltny except a big Ford franchise around here some place. I live in Brownsville near Memphis. Some of my siblings still live near the home place of the Catharine Walls place, settled there in 1828. That's where Poppa and Momma Walls {Newt and Etta] lived some of the time. And some of the time in Dyer Co., TN on the Tatumville Neboville road. The thing I enjoyed the most was to hear Credy's am I right about that name, Report about her family. A lot of things were similar to my grandparents. Our grandparents stayed around here in TN, never moved, albeit I lived near Chicago for forty years. My husband worked at O'Hare for U S Airways. Sincerely, Shirley Ann Walls Clark

I stumbled upon your website by accident and noticed that some of my family is in your website. I have some up to date info for you if you are interested. I would also like to see how we might be related. My grandfather was Jimmy Richard Rhoades His son, my father was William T. Rhoades. My father died on May 4 1979, not Aug 11 as you have posted. Someone might like to know this. I was our family barber also done all the making of all the children's pants, shirts, underwear, and dresses. Washed clothes a washboard. Ironed with an iron that had to be heated the stove. Scrubbed my floors with a scrub broom and our children looked as pretty as everyones children at church and school. fact they was the prettiest kids the state. I milked our cow, churned the milk, made butter, attended to a big bunch of chickens. All the time and through all that we had time to visit our friends and go to church and visit our folks too. Also, I chopped cotton, picked cotton, gathered corn, plowed our garden, and canned vegtables and fruit. Always had lot of flowers our yard. So, I was quite a busy housewife. Ofcourse Sam worked hard, so did our children. With water to pump, mules and hogs and cows, kindling to get in, wood to chop and carry in. They was smart children if I do say so and when they needed spanking they got that too.

  1. Hi I am Ebb Gwaltney Sr and Eloise Gwaltney’s granddaughter. They only had 7 children total, not 8 as reported. My aunts and uncles are Joe,Sandra ,Gail,Jimmy ,Ebb Jr aka “Socky” and my mother is Jane. Her actual name is Billie Jane so im guessing that is where the confusion for the 8th child’s name came into play as the poster mixed up the name as Billie Jean. There was no child born of that name and my grandparents only had the 7 children I named with my mother being Billie Jane. Some people call her Jane and others say Billie..I call her Mom :). I never knew either of my grandparents. My granddaddy passed away when I was nearly 3 months old and my grandmother passed away when my mother was just 14 years old so I never had the chance to ever know them. I enjoy learning about them and what their lives entailed as well as all if the genealogy from our family history. I’ve recently sparked an interest in learning more about our DNA and what our Indian heritage is ..does anyone know how I might learn the percentage of Cherokee and.black hawk I have in me?
