Church of Christ, Fremont
Fremont Church of Christ was first known as Mt. Gilead, and was organized between 1865-70 just after the Civil War. The land was donated by James Isaac Caldwell and is located on Highway 22 six miles west of Union City in the 10th Civil District. Some of the charter members were James Caldwell, Willis Caldwell, Isaac W. Caldwell, Sarah Caldwell, Robert T Caldwell, David P Caldwell, George W. Whipple and Mary M. Caldwell. The original building was used until a new building was erected in 1912 on the same site. This building suffered storm damage in 1960 and was repaired and modernized.
