Henry Killion, merchant of Protemus, Tenn., was born in Missouri on the 22d of November, 1841. His parents, John and Christinia (Snider) Killion, were born in 1813 and 1820, respectively; the former in Tennessee. He died in February, 1886. The mother now resides with her son, Henry. He was reared on a farm and worked on the same until the late war, when he joined the Confederate Army in July, 1861, serving in Company A, Thirty-third Tennessee Infantry. He was elected first corporal of his company soon after his enlistment, and shortly after was chosen first orderly sergeant. He was wounded at Shiloh, also at Perryville, and was disable for duty about nine months in all. He was captured at the latter place and kept in prison at Camp Douglas, Chicago. After being discharged he returned home and a he was unfitted for the infantry, owing to his wound, he joined the first Tennessee Cavalry and was elected orderly sergeant of the command. He afterward rejoined the infantry and was wounded at Harrisburg, Miss., and Paducah, Ky. Since the war he has farmed, and in the last tow years has been engaged in the mercantile business. February 15, 1866, he married M. E. Lawrence, of Obion County. They have two children: Beulah E and John D. Mr. Killion is one of the first men of the county is work about $10,000. He and wife are members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and he is a Master Mason of Tyre Lodge, No. 278. He is a Democrat.
