Obion County Farm
The Obion County County Farm (poor house, county home) was once located in Civil District 6, near the Polk Station Community on what is now Moss Road. There was probably a graveyard in this vicinity but it has not yet been located.
In or around 1930, it was relocated to District 10. Individuals who died at the District 10 home were buried at the Beech Cemetery on the east side of the cemetery gate.
In the mid-1950s, the county farm received attention from all across the state after the conditions of the living quarters were publicized. Over half of the county farm’s funds were being directed towards purchasing cattle at the time and no repairs were being made on any of the decrepit buildings on the property. In the late 1950s or early 1960s, it became the Obion County Rest Home, and has since become the Obion County Nursing Home.
