County levied 3 cent tax per $100 of Taxable Property to be used for the benefit of families of volunteers serving their country, and 15 cents per $100 value for purchasing arms for home guard. Court elected S. W. Cochran to serve as general commander of Home Guard Company and ordered court chairman to issue and sell county bonds to raise funds for purchase of arms for home guard of minutemen. Court ordered General S. W. Cochran to appoint commissioners to purchase arms and ordered respective District Justices of the Peace to notify home guard of their appointment.

Court allowed J. G. W. Jimmerson $7.65 for bacon for family of John Thompson who is in Confederate Army, and Reeves and Wylie were allowed $8.12 for bacon bought by J. B. Harper District #6 commissioner, for use of Mrs. Nip whose son is in service.
