  1. I would very much like to visit this cemetery – my third great grandparents were John and Sarah McCoy. Can you give more specific directions?

    1. Hello Mike, I will give you the description that is in the cemetery book. “South of Sunbright, off hwy 27.(or north of Wartburg, depends on which way you are traveling) Turn left on Caney Branch Road, travel app. 1.3 miles, bear left at the forks of the road. (this was an log road the last time I was there) Stay straight after the house on the left, travel app. 1 mile to the last electrical pole on the right. The cemetery is on the left, a few feet after crossing an old dry branch bed in a dense wooded area. The land belonged to Mrs. Ada Bishop since 1933, hers being the last house on the road in site from the electrical pole. (Mike, this little cemetery is on a rise across that ‘ditch’. It is hard to see. There was quite a bit of logging in that area not too long ago and also before that an ice storm that knocked down a lot of trees. Hope you can locate it)

      1. Thank you so much! We will take a ride out there and see if we can get a few pictures etc. this is supposedly where the old McCoy homestead was. We live in Cumberland county. My uncle Reese McCoy wrote a family history on the McCoys of Morgan county. I appreciate your help!
        Mike

        1. Mike, I think we have the McCoy book in our Genealogy room in Wartburg. Hope you can locate the cemetery. I have a photo of Andy Cromwell, husband of Mournen, Would love to find one of her. Good Luck in your search!

          1. Hoping to visit your library there if time allows when we are there. If we ever run across any photos we will share. We’ve made another family connection through Thomas mccoy’s line (brother of Ransom, whom our line comes through) and hoping to get some more info and maybe even pictures. Thank you for your help and let us know if we can ever return the favor.
