ELECTRICITY
After many years of untiring efforts, the residents of the two mile section of Oakdale, north on “Airline Highway” are to be blest with electricty. Many times their spirits have been lifted in the hopes, only to be blasted again, but this time it is reality as work has actually begun on digging holes for the poles and it is hoped ‘ere the month of June shall have made its exit, electricity will be a reality in that community. FIRST APPLICATION FOR OLD AGE ASSISTANCE RECEIVED THIS WEEK

Applications for Old Age Assistance, Aid to the Blind and Aid to Dependent Children are being taken now at the Wartburg Office of the Department of Institutions and Public Welfare, from those people that are on the relief rolls. The first application was taken Monday. Those desiring to make application that are not on the relief rolls will be allowed to do son after August 1st. Any9one not able to come to the office is advised to notify the office and a worker will call at the home. Monday and Friday of each week have been set as days to take applications at the office. TRUCK REGISTRATIONS INCREASE
One hundred and eighty nine (189) trucks were registered in Morgan County this year up to June 1st. against one hundred fourty seven (147) as of a correspojnding date last year, according to Mrs. Glena K. Ott, County Court Clerk. In 1937 there were 712 automobiles, 30 county trucks, 2 motorcycles and 1 taxi.
