Munford, William B.  (1810 – 1859)

HOUSE, 26th General Assembly, 1845-47; representing Montgomery County; Whig. Born in 1810 at Danville, KY; son of William B. and Lettice (Ball) Munford. Attended “common schools”. Married, date and place not found to Amanda G. Johnson; three sons – W. B., Arthur Hendrick, and Louis Green. Came to Clarksville, Montgomery County in 1839 as president of Memphis, Clarksville, and Louisville Railroad; president Clarksville branch, Bank of Tennessee; trustee of Stewart College, Clarksville; secretary Young Men’s Christian Assn, Clarksville, 1859; stockholder in Clarksville Female Academy. Member Presbyterian Church. Died at Clarksville July 9, 1859; place of burial not indicated. Father of Arthur Hendrick Munford; brother of Thomas J. Munford, sometime members TN General Assembly.
