Northington, Nicholas L. (1827 – 1901)
HOUSE, 39th General Assembly, 1875-77; representing Montgomery County; Democrat. Born in Montgomery County, Nov 17, 1827. Names of parents and extent of schooling not determined; studied medicine. Married, but date and place of marriage and names of wife and children not indicated; was survived by wife and three grandchildren. Practiced medicine at Port Royal, Montgomery County, to 1887, at same time interested in agricultural pursuits; member executive committee Farmer’s Assn. of Montgomery County; moved to Clarksville, Montgomery County, c. 1887 to continue medical practice to 1898. Member Clarksville city council; postmaster at that place, 1893-97; elected county trustee 1898 and served until death. Member county Democratic Executive Committee, 1893; delegate to county Democratic Convention. Member Presbyterian Church; Master Mason of Saddler Lodge, A.& F.M., Clarksville; Knights Templar. Died at Clarksville, Jan 21, 1901; buried in Greenwood Cemetery.
