Attended public schools of Montgomery County; Southwestern Presbyterian University, Clarksville, Montgomery County; graduated in law from Cumberland University, Lebanon, Wilson County, receiving LL.B. degree 1923. Married at Kansas City, MO, in 1947, to Gale Bollinger; one daughter  -- Melissa Gale. Began practice of law at Clarksville and maintained lucrative practice over a period of years; member board of directors Memorial Hospital, Clarksville; member Montgomery County Foundation; trustee of student loan fund, Austin Peay State College, Clarksville; director of Citizens Development Co.; handled legal transactions in Clarksville for Kraft Cheese Co. Appointed acting county and criminal court judge, during illness of incumbent, 1945; member and chairman Montgomery County Board of Education. In World Wars I and II, inducted as Pvt. in Students Army Training Corps at University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Oct 4, 1918; honorably discharged Dec 8, 1918; inducted for service in World War II at Clarksville Oct 1, 1942; assigned to Judge Advocate 8103; attended service schools – C. W. S. Edgewood Arsenal, MD, and JAG, Ann Arbor, MI; honorably discharged with rank of Maj. Dec 7, 1945, at McClellan Field, CA; awarded American Theater Service medal and World War II Victory Medal. Member Methodist Episcopal Church; Royal Arch Masons; Alpha Tau Omega fraternity; Clarksville Rotary Club, president 1932, Clarksville, TN, and American Bar Assns; American Legion. Died at Rochester, MN, Oct 5, 1951; buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Clarksville.
