HOUSE, 36th General Assembly, 1869-71; representing Montgomery County; classified as of Conservative Party at that session. Born in Stewart County Oct 12, 1819; names of parents not determined. Schooling described as "scanty"; apparently read law. Nothing to indicate he was ever married. Practiced law at Clarksville, Montgomery County. One of incorporators of Clarksville Building Assn, 1856; trustee of Stewart College 1859-60; one of commissioners of one of first free schools in Clarksville. Member Presbyterian Church. Killed in train wreck near Nashville, Davidson County, July 3, 1871; buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Clarksville.
