HOUSE, 70th, 71st, and 72nd General Assemblies, 1937-43; representing Montgomery County; SENATE, 79th and 80th General Assemblies, 1955-59; representing Montgomery and Robertson counties; HOUSE, 81st General Assembly, 1959-61, representing Montgomery County, Democrat. Born in Cumberland City, Stewart County, Oct 4, 1892; son of Berry H. and Medora (Kelly) Dunbar. Attended elementary school at Dotsonville, Montgomery County; Battle Ground Academy, Franklin, Williamson County; Southwestern College, Clarksville, Montgomery County; University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Knox County. Married first at Shiloh, Montgomery County, Aug 15, 1928 to Sara Allen, daughter of Burl and Mary (Sullivan) Allen, she died Dec 9, 1943; son – Cuyler Allen; second marriage Sep 2, 1954 to Mrs. Lemma (Sisca) Cruce, of Marion, Crittenden County, KY, daughter of Lemuel N. and Frances (Enoch) Sisca. Engaged in farming at Woodlawn, Rt. 3, Montgomery County. In World War I; inducted at Clarksville Aug 31, 1918; served in Student Army Training Corps, University of Tennessee, to Oct 27, 1918; Pvt., Motor Truck Corps; honorably discharged at demobilization, Jan 8, 1919; member Methodist Episcopal Church; supt. of Sunday School, 1926-46; member official board since 1925; trustee; member Free and Accepted Masons; Alpha Tau Omega fraternity; charter member Montgomery County Farm Bureau, president 1935, 1936, and 1937; member American Legion. Residence (1963) Woodlawn, R. 3. Kinsman of William Barloe Dunbar, sometime member TN General Assembly.
