Dowlen, Cicero  (1850 – 1921)

SENATE, 59th and 60th General Assemblies, 1915-19; representing Montgomery and Robertson counties; Democrat. Born in Robertson County Mar 6, 1850; son of John and Susan (Shaw) Dowlen. Attended "common schools". Married first in 1882 to Sallie W. Thompson, daughter of William Thompson; second marriage in 1908 to Nannie B. Haynes; five children – Harry, by first marriage; R. E., John S., Coma, and Erma; dates of birth of latter four not found. Taught school twelve years in Robertson County in early life; removed to Montgomery County to engage in farming at Port Royal for remainder of life. Member Robertson County Court twelve years; member Montgomery County Court twenty-eight years; member Montgomery County School Board. Member Methodist Episcopal Church; Loyal Order of Moose. Died in Montgomery County July 6, 1921; buried at Springfield, Robertson County.
