Born at Palmyra, Montgomery County, Mar. 10, 1884; son of James M. and Mary (Allen)Broome. Attended Howell elementary school, Clarksville, Montgomery County. Married at Clarksville June 20, 1918, to Beulah Davis of Clarksville, daughter of Hardy B. and Emily M. (Highsmith) Davis; chldren – Marshall B. and Dorothy F. Engaged in farming at Palmyra; dealt in livestock and real estate in addition to farming. Justice of peace and member county court from 18th civil district, 1912-52. Ruling elder Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1916-52, and stated clerk of Clarksville Presbytery, 1920-52; member Free and Accepted Masons; Independent Order of Odd Fellows; member board of trustees, I.O.O.F. Home, Clarksville, 1924-36; member Junior Order of United American Mechanics. Died at Palmyra May 25, 1952; buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Clarksville. Great-uncle of Staton Davis, Jr., sometime member Tenn. General Assembly.
