Attended elementary and high schools at McKenzie; received A B. degree from Bethel College, McKenzie, 1939; attended College of Law, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Knox County, receiving LL.B. degree in 1942. Married at Knoxville June 26, 1943, to Broecksie Cummings of Rutherford Gibson County, daughter of Broeck and Chloe (Barton) Cummings. No children indicated. Engaged in practice of law at Clarksville, Montgomery County. Member Methodist Church; American Bar Assn; Tennessee Bar Assn; member board of governors 1958-61; vice president 1961-62; president Montgomery County Bar Assn 1956-57; president Junior Chamber of Commerce, Clarksville, 1948-49.
