Hicks, Kathryn Dale
Faithful, gentle and always serving – Kathryn Hicks quietly embodied the love of Christ every day of her life. A devoted member of the Church of Christ, she believed in showing her faith through action: caring for others, offering encouragement, and putting others before herself.
On May 5, 2025, Kathryn Dale Hicks, of Bon Aqua, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord, leaving behind a life that spoke more through kindness than words ever could. Kathryn was born in Cullman, Alabama, on August 2, 1936, to the late Alton and Bessie Davis Dooley.
She began her professional life as an executive secretary, following that she her poured her creativity into a flower shop she proudly owned in Jasper, Alabama. Kathryn brought beauty, comfort and joy to her community through every arrangement she made. No matter the occasion, her flowers spoke the gentle language of love and care just like she did.
Outside of work she found peace in reading, often curled up with a book and a fresh baked something cooling nearby. At every gathering she made sure everyone’s favorite dessert was on the table – homemade cheesecake for one, pecan pie for another – because that’s just who she was. She remembered, she noticed, and she gave. On Sunday mornings, her voice rose in song, strong and steady, and during the week her hands stayed busy caring for others. Her life was stitched together by faith, family, and an instinctive kindness that never needed to be taught – it just was.
Kathryn leaves behind a devoted, loving husband of 60 years, William Hicks of Bon Aqua, Tennessee, son Noel (Stephanie) Hicks of Pegram, Tennessee, sister Brenda Moon of Jasper, Alabama and nephew Barry Moon of Jasper, Alabama.
Her life was one of faith, generosity and of love that tasted just a little sweeter when served on a dessert plate.
