CRUMLEY, SURRIDGE
looking for a CRUMLEY male born somewhere around 1880 or later in Tennesse. We have no county or town. He would have married an Elizabeth (?). Bessie was Cherokee Indian. Her second husband would have been a SURRIDGE. We knew her as Bessie SURRIDGE. She had three sons, James Hugh, Steve, and Sam. She moved from Tennessee to Oklahoma in the early 1900s.

RICKMAN
On the 1820 Lawerence, TN census, there is a William Rickman listed with 11 people in the household. Can anyone tell me anything about this family. I think this is possibly my gg grandfather. I don’t know how to find info on the early census records. I know that my gg grandfather married and moved to Lauderdale County, Alabama. I am trying to find William parents and sibling. There is a possibility that maybe that he is related to a Benjamin Rickman who was in Lawerence County on the 1850 Census. Thanks for all your help.

MARY ISHUM, ISOM, WARNETT, BARNETT OR BARNES
Seeking information regarding Martha A. Ishum/Isom who was the daughter of Charles & Mary (Warnett or Barnett) Ishum/Isom. Martha was born in 1840 in TN (still searching for the county possibly Carroll) and her father Charles was born in NC 1800, mother TN around 1810 and was Cherokee on her mother’s side. Martha married James B. Lookadoo in 1856 in Clark County, AR and she had four sons with him. James died around the middle 1860s and Martha ended up with an Atlas P. Dunn b. 1851 GA. They homesteaded in AR and then moved into Oklahoma, then Indian Territory in about 1885. They had three girls and maybe a son. Martha disappears after that time and we are trying to find if anyone knows anything at all about her Native American genealogy. Anyone who knew of Mary Barnett/Warnett possibly Barnes, please contact us. Thank you.

MASSEY, GIBBONS, HALE, KIRK
I am looking for the father of James William Massey b. 12-1859, married Mary Kirk b. 03-1863, parents of William B 1887, Annie b. 1889, Lula or Lou Massey b. 2-1892 , And James b. 1899. Lula married Herman Gibbons abt 1924. Lula died in 1929 after childbirth. Her children were Georgia Louise and Mary Evelyn Gibbons. I received this info from my mother-in-law, (Georgia Louise) and also from 1900 and 1910 census. I suspect James Massey’s father to be Richard Andrew Massey Jr b. 1835, married Nellie White and Mary Lou Kirk Holden. Can anyone verify this? Thanks so much. Georgia Louise Gibbons was also the granddaughter of James Quincy Gibbons and Pamphelia Hale. I am searching for James Quincy’s father’s name too. His father was born in Virginia and married Agnes, who later married a Johnson, after being widowed.

ALLEN, CARRELL, NOT RELATED
I descend from Wm.P Allen who stow away on the wagon train of Capt. Carroll ( I think Carroll might be N.A. Carroll). N. A. Carroll came to Texas in 1872. Wm. Allen came to Tx. same year. My gg grandfather. William Pirtle Allen told family he was From Love Co., TN.. There is and never was a Love Co., TN. At 12-13 yers of age, he should have known his parents/siblings names. But, he never gave that information. Maybe suspect? Both, Newton Addison Carrell, and Wm. Pirtle Allen were in Ellis Co, and Dallas Co., TX. I am trying to find his Allen family in TN., which is quite difficult. I suspect he is from Lawrence Co., TN. I KNOW that Newton Addison Carrell is. Wm. P. Allen was supposed to have lived with Capt. N.A. Carrell for a while after coming to Tx.. William Pirtle named his son, William Addison Allen. I suspect after himself (William ) and Capt. Carrell.(Addison) He should be listed in 1860, and 1870 cenus, as about 2 & 12 years of age. Dissappearing in following census. If anyone as

ALLEN,
SOURCE: TENNESSEANS IN THE CIVIL WAR, PVT.ROBERT ALLEN, WAS IN THE IVE’S 54TH TN Infantry Regiment shows that John D. IVES men were from the Lawrence County area. They enrolled Nov 30 1861, Lawrenceburg. They mustered in at Nashville Feb. 5,1862, this group became company with 48th Nixon’s. Robert ALLEN ws a prisoner of war at Camp Douglas, Il. In Aug 1, 1862,. I have checked other sources to make sure this is my ggrandfather, from Wayne County,TN., The state tells me that this information does not fully answer my questions about what happened to my ancestor, it does at least let me know that he was taken prisoner and became a Prisoner of War at Camp Douglas, IL. I would like more identification, it could be any Robert ALLEN. Why would he come to Lawrence County when he lived in Wayne County,TN? If he did enroll in Lawrence Co., would there be a record in Lawrence burg?

WISDOM
My great grandfather was John William Wisdom. I have been told that the 1850 Census shows that he lived in Lawrence Co at the age of 3. His father was Elijah Wisdom and I was told that he was a lawyer in that county. I’ve always believed that he came from Ky to the Livingston area but now I have to wonder. Does anyone out there know anything about him?
