William Harvey Abernathy was born Oct 1857 in Giles County, Tennessee. “Pap Bud”, as he was known, died August 7, 1938 at his home in Nankipoo, Lauderdale County, TN. He was the son of Felix Thievent Abernathy and Sarah Ann Tucker. His siblings were Robert James Abernathy (b. Mar 1856 – d. 12 Mar 1939) and India Mildred Abernathy Coffey (b. 23 Jun 1873 – d. 30 Dec 1951).

William Harvey Abernathy married Callie Elizabeth Barham on 7 Feb 1886 in Lauderdale County, TN. Callie, as she was known, was born 7 Dec 1866 in Henry County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of John William Barham and Mary Elizabeth Turner. Callie died 24 Dec 1944 at her home in Nankipoo, Lauderdale County, TN.

William Harvey and Callie Abernathy are buried in Halls Cemetery.

1. Minnie Myrtle Abernathy Pennington b. 7 Dec 1886 – d. 22 Sep 1961. Married Thomas Marvin Pennington in Lauderdale County on 5 Jun 1904.
2. Hermon Thievent Abernathy b. 25 Dec 1887 – d. 22 Apr 1980. Married Willie O Hinton in Lauderdale County on 24 Dec 1911.
3. Florence Ethel Abernathy b. 2 Jun 1890 – d.12 Jul 1914 of Typhoid Fever. Married Claud Eugene Cates in Lauderdale County on 6 Dec 1908.
4. Sterling Hamilton Abernathy b. 4 Apr 1897 – d. 7 Apr 1971. Married Marguerite Eloise Steelman in Lauderdale County on 11 Jun 1917. 2nd marriage to Blanche Sue Bizzell in Crittenden County, Arkansas on 22 Dec 1941.
