TERRY, FRANCIS, YOUNG

I am searching for information regarding J. B. (Jesse) TERRY, born 1861 and lived in Jackson County until his death in 1936. He married (1) Martha C FRANCIS(es) and later May YOUNG. He had several children with Martha including my grandmother, Mary Belle TERRY who married Eralso Walton HUFFINES. With May YOUNG, he had two children --Ben and Fred TERRY. According to the cemetery records for Jackson County, Jesse and both of his younger sons, Ben and Fred, died within a three week period of each other, all from flu and pneumonia, in 1936. If you know, or have any information about any of the aforementioned people, I would be most interested in conversing with you. Any information, no matter how sketchy is welcomed. Thank you.

Asil HARIL is listed in 1830 Census of Jackson Co. Again in 1850 census as Asa HERRELL. By 1860 part of his children are listed in census in Putnam Co. (Spelling HERRAL)Can anyone provide any even little piece of information on this family? Children were born from 1830- 1848 William Van, Sally, James, Francis, Jane, Marlin, Ritter(Corilla), Emeline, Prunetta and Jerome. Do not know about any of them except William Van HAREL who lived in Smith Co. Tenn. Died in San Antonio, Texas. It was rumored that he was in Birmingham, Ala in the fall of 1900. Died in San Antonio, Texas Jan 30, 1907. Had left his wife and children in Tenn. and died alone. Very hard to research since they spell the name so many different ways. He also served on both sides during the Civil War. First with Dan Ellison's Tenn Cav. then on Dec. 20, 1963 enlisted in the Union Army in Louisville, Ky. Can someone please help??? Surely someone in Jackson Co. must be related to some of these children.

MCCOIN/MCKAUGHN

MCCOIN/MCKAUGHN/MCKAUGHAN, Jackson County Tennessee: My maiden name is MCCOIN and I have just started researching my family origins. I am descended from a James Wesley MCCOIN and possibly Malise Bell MCCOIN who were from Jackson County. I have no other information to connect this link to an interesting document I just received from my mother. It is a five page typewritten letter dated 16 January, 1978 from Minniebell MCKAUGHAN Perkins to Wallace FREEMONT and it details the origins of this line back to around 245 AD in Pictish Scotland. The document contends a name change took place and MCKAUGHNs are listed in the 1850 Jackson Co. Census, but not MCCOINs. I am transcribing this document to Word and would be happy to share with anyone researching this line. I would also appreciate any assistance in connecting me with my ancestors further back than James Wesley MCCOIN. Thank you so much.

JOHNSTON, HALL, BUCKLEY

I am researching my great-grandmother, Mariah Jane JOHNSTON. She was born on 28 October 1824 in Wartrace Creek (formerly Wilsonville), Jackson County, Tennessee. Her father was Oliver Campbell JOHNSTON, her mother Hannah HALL BUCKLEY. I need any and all information as to her parents' birthplaces and dates, their parents' names, birthdates, any sibs, etc. My major emphasis is to establish a direct, solid link to the Clan Johnstone in Scotland. I have good information as to the Scottish end, but am missing some important points in the middle. Oliver's father's name was reportedly James JOHNSTON, his mother Jane NFI. James' father was Samuel JOHNSTON of New Jersey, wife unknown. Samuel was allegedly an officer in the Revolutionary War - I found two from different counties in New Jersey. If anyone can help fill in the spaces, I will be deeply grateful.

ELIZABETH BRYAN, BRYANT, CALHOUN, MARLOW

Looking for my ggg grandmother Elizabeth. We are unsure of her maiden name spelling. Father may have been William OR Robert BRYANT. Mother may have been a CALHOUN. Elizabeth was born around 1816, and married Wilson Williamson Marlow around 1834-36. They had four children: Achsa (1836), James Robert (1838), Pleasant (1841) and Bethel (1843). She died young around the age of 25-27 shorthly after the birth of her last child. I am a descendent of Bethel. Bethel is a strange name. I once saw a William Bethel MARLOW and wondered if my gg grandfather was named after a this person. We believe that she and Wilson lived in Tennesse when first married and then moved to St. Claire Missouri. She died somewhere in Missouri, near St. Claire I would think. Does anyone have information on this family. I would love to hear from you. I have some information to share. Thank you, Vicki Walberg Vacaville, CA.

Nancy Jane is the daughter of Joseph (Joe) BURGESS and Mary Elizabeth VETETO. Demie died in 1880. Family lore has it that he was the son of a wealthy family that raised thoroughbred horses in Jackson Co. TN and that he was disinherited for marrying Nancy Jane BURGESS. ROGERS, HICKS, BREEDLOVES, ADAMS, MONTGOMERYS, COMERS, TEAGUE

My 5th great-grandmother was "Caty" Teague of Cherokee Bird Clan who married Enoch Rogers (son of Jacob and ?). Their son, John Rogers married Amy Adams, daughter of William Adams and Jane Comer/Conner. I have another Hicks/Hix (Nathaniel b. 1760 about) whose daughter Anna married John Samuel Haggard. Montgomerys are also mentioned with Haggards as well Adams. I'd love to know more, especially of Caty Teague's Bird Clan family. I believe her sister may have been the mother of Susanna "Spring Frog" Sanders. Thank you in advance.

HOWARD

Hello and Happy New Year to everyone ! My name is Sandra Fischer and I am seeking any info on my G-grandfather, Thomas Howard. On the 1880 Boone Co. AR. index page, he states he was born in TN. 24 years previously. I was lucky enough to find a lady that sent me a listing for 1860 Jackson Co. TN. census index showing a young boy of 5 years of age named Thomas with parents Thomas and Nancy Howard. I just can't be absolutely sure it is the same family I need. Would anyone know of some written material telling the history of early residents of Jackson Co.? My GG-grandfather is suppossed to have come over from Clare Co. Ireland when he was 14 years of age. If anyone has any ideas as to where I could go from here, I sure would appreciate hearing from them. Thanks very much, Sandy in AZ.
