I'm currently in the process of typing the Jackson County Cemetery book for Wilda Luttrell, in Nashville, TN. We would like to make the book as complete as possible. If you know of anyone who is buried in a grave without a name on rock, we sure would like to know their name & dates along with the cemetery where they are buried. Maybe they aren't in a cemetery, but in a field or fence row, please give me the location and I will include it. I have over 350 pages typed. We are also including some of the cemeteries which are near the county line and several of our Jackson County people are buried in them. We would like to get this book ready for publication this year. As I said we have many more to type and several to copy. We don't have all of them in the Whittleyville area. We would appreciate any and all help. My E-mail Reda@twlakes.net or Reda Knight Bilbrey 143 E. Volunteer Dr. Livingston TN 38570

I am searching for information about my great-grandparents, James B. (Bennett) JACKSON and Sarah Jane CHERRY. Jim JACKSON was b. 10 Aug 1847, in TN, presumably, Overton Co. and d. 08 Dec 1923 in Oregon Co., MO. Sarah Jane CHERRY was b. 10 Sep 1854, in TN, presumably, Overton Co. and d. 23 Feb 1926 in Oregon Co., MO. The Jacksons were members of the Baptist Church. It is probable that their marriage was performed by a Baptist preacher. According to the JACKSON family Bible, Jim (J.B.) and Jane JACKSON married in Clay Co., TN, on 04 Nov 1873. According to the family Bible and obituaries from Oregon Co., MO, William Bennett JACKSON b. 28 Jul 1874, Florence JACKSON b. 20 Jan 1876, Violett JACKSON b. 28 Feb 1879, Muce Dora JACKSON b. 22 Feb 1881, and John JACKSON b. 29 Jan 1884 were all born in Clay Co., TN. This JACKSON family left TN in 1886. They arrived in Oregon Co., MO in 1886 or early 1887. Their son Lee JACKSON was b. 24 Sep 1886 in KY. Remaining children Clyde JACKSON, Mary JACKSON, Alta JACKSON, and Dona JACKSON were b. in MO. To date a search for census information or a marriage record has been fruitless. Any verification that these JACKSONS were in Overton, Jackson, or Clay Co., TN would be greatly appreciated. (It is said that J.B. JACKSON had a sister named Susan (Susie) JACKSON who remained in TN.) Any information related to census, marriage, land deeds would be helpful!

CARRIGER FAMILY HISTORY Thu Aug 28 22:18:06 1997
Searching for information on GOTTFRIED (KERCHER) CARRIGER, SR.. A Tennessee Historical Commission plaque "CARRIGER'S LANDING" now stands in the Hunter Community of Carter County documenting the CARRIGER family's mark on early Carter County history. Gottfried and Anna Margaratha Anspach CARRIGER had the following children: Nicholas, Michael, John, Elizabeth, Godfrey, Jr. and Christian. In 1811 Nicholas and Catherine CARRIGER and all of their known children moved to Lincoln County, Tennessee. Many of Nicholas's children later migrated into Greene County, Illinois. Christian and Levicy WARD CARRIGER had fourteen children, all of whom were born in Carter County. In 1842 Christian and Levicy and some of the younger children left Carter County and settled in Independence, Missouri. Nicholas CARRIGER (the son of Christian CARRIGER) became a selfmade historian having documented the events of the CARRIGER family to become the sixth family to "OVERLAND IN 1846". Other surnames connected to the Carriger marriage in Carter County are: William WARD & ANN VANDERPOOL , Teeter NAVE & Rebecca BOWERS , Isaac & Mary LINCOLN , Daniel & Phoebe STOVER, Mary & Molly MORRELL - William or MARY FITZSIMMONS.

On Aug 30, 1997, I found in a Book," Murder, Mayhem, and More" by Ms Euline Harris that Doll Teague died in May 1898 in a mine. The article was blurred and the article wasn't specific about the location of the mine.
Doll/Dolphus Teague died May 1898 in a coal mine in Whitwell/TRACY City, MarionCo., TN.. He lived for several hours and talked with his family. He was survived by a widow and 4 children. I have not been able to find the family together anywhere. I found both Hannah and Doll/Dolphus at age 21 on the 1870 Marion Co Census but I haven't found them for 1880 and no information on the Children of this couple, my great grandparents.

LOVELADY-Seek information on descendants of Jesse LOVELADY of Jackson and Overton Counties, who was the son of Marshall and Hannah LOVELADY of Jefferson Co., where Marshall's will was proven in January 1793. Jesse LOVELADY moved from East Tennessee to Jackson Co. by 1802, when he appeared on a tax list. Then by 1810, he was in Overton Co., where he bought from Nathan WOOD (of White Co.) 100 acres on the north side of Spring Creek, formerly called west ford [fork?] of Roaring River, with a mention of LOVELADY'S Spring Branch, near William DAVIS' Spring Branch. The land was registered in Overton Co. on 6 March 1810. Then on 12 June 1810,in Overton Co., Jesse LOVELADY signed an affidavit, saying he was a legal heir of Marshall LOVELADY. Was Polly LOVELADY, listed on the 1836 Overton Co. tax list, the widow of Jesse? I am searching for names of Jesse's wife, children, and other descendants. If anyone sees connecting information to another family, please contact me. I need help on this family. Thanks.

Seeking information on the Elrod line. Please contact me or my sister Virginia Elrod, P.O. Box 3599, Eureka CA 95502-3599 Giles Elrod born NC or SC 1779-1784, spouse Elizabeth Thomas born 1800 NC or SC. Had children of their own and adopted Morgan children who were apparently Native American. The earliest Elrods in Tennessee were Giles Elrod and/or family and 3 males who may have been brothers, These were William Elrod, James Elrod, and Peter Elrod. Peter Elrod was murdered in 1834 in White County while visiting relatives. His murderer Kesley was hanged in Nashville for another murder and it was reported in the newspaper there. Peter Elrod can be traced to John Teter Elrod according to my sources. Giles Elrods children lived mainly in Putnam County although they moved around Tennessee. Any information on the above as well as John, Jack, (Morgan) Elrod (one of the adopted children and my lineal relative) would be greatly appreciated. His oldest son, William Harrison Elrod born 1849 served in the Civil War. Interested in knowing who Giles parents were and more about when and why he adopted the Morgan children as well as when they moved to Tennessee. Any info about Giles 10 children, adopted or natural of interest. Definately interested in the Morgan childrens forebears. Two of William Harrisons children ended up in Indian Territory. This was William Riley Elrod and James Elrod. Their sister Amanda Caroline Elrod also visited them there. Would be interested in knowing when they moved to Oklahoma and any info. Unable to trace James. William Riley is my fathers father and died in 1918 suddenly and is buried at Kenefic, OK in an unmarked grave. They could not afford a headstone.

NASH, MISENHEIMER, FOGLEMAN, POTTS, TAYLOR, OWEN, MANN, HILL, OUTLAW, LOCKERMAN All I know about my Tennessee connection for Andrew J. Nash was that he was suppose to have been born there in 1809 according to the census. Can someone help me place him in the correct Tennessee county? My maternal 3rd. great grandfather is Andrew Jackson NASH b. 1809 TN, d. 23 Jun 1854 Carlinville, Macoupin Co., IL, married first Mary Polly MISENHEIMER (daughter of John MISENHEIMER & Mary FOGLEMAN). He married second Mrs. Pacify Tinsey MANN and had son Francis (Frank) Marion Nash). Andrew and Mary had the following children:
- 1. John M. b. 1832 IL
- 2. Robert Franklin b. 1835 IL, d. ca. 1901 Terrell, TX, married 29 Sept 1859 in Montgomery Co., IL to Sarah POTTS
- 3. Andrew J. b. 23 Feb 1840 Macoupin Co., IL, d. 4 Feb 1923 in Cumberland Co., IL, married 14 March 1878 to Sarah TAYLOR
- 4. William J. b. 24 Sept 1842 Macoupin Co., IL, d. 30 Jul 1884 Mattoon, Coles Co., IL, married 10 Jan 1867 Litchfield, Montgomery Co., IL to Frances Jane OWEN (these are my 2nd. great grandparents).
- Andrew Jackson NASH might have been married before he married Mary MISENHEIMER as there was a Sarah NASH who married 10 Mar 1849 in Montgomery Co., IL to Robert HILL. There was also a Martha NASH who married 11 Feb 1850 in Montgomery Co., IL to James A. OUTLAW. On the 1830 census of Montgomery Co., IL, was listed Andrew NASH as male 20/30 yrs, 1 female under 5, one female 5/10 and one female 20/30. In 1853, Andrew was indicted for the murder of Alexander LOCKERMAN. Andrew and LOCKERMAN were drunk at a fourth of July picnic and there was a fight. Andrew stabbed LOCKERMAN and left for two years. He was found in Arkansas and brought back to Illinois for the trial. He was found guilty and was suppose to hang. His sentences was commuted to life in prison but there was a riot and he was killed.
