I would like to learn the cause of death of John M.
Tinsley (son of Amos Kirkpatrick Tinsley) who died in 1902, and
his second wife, Elizabeth Little, who died in 1901. I believe
they died in Texas and left seven small children who were brought
back to Tinsley's Bottom to live with relatives. I would also like
to know the cause of death of their son, Jacob Fred (Jake)
Tinsley, who died in 1912.

Can someone look up for me in the 1870 Jackson Co., TN
census for a Rhoda (Rosie) M. PUTTY, wife of John L. PUTTY? They
were in the 1860 Jackson Co., TN census, but he is not in the
1870. Wife and son (Marion) were in 1900 Muhlenburg Co, KY census.
John L. may have died and Rhoda (Rosie) is head of household. I
believe that Rhoda is d/o Worley and Rebecca Young who also were
in Jackson Co., TN. I have looked in Kentucky & Tennessee 1870
census indexes for John L. PUTTY but couldn't find him. I will

I am trying to identify the parents of William PHARRIS,
born about August 1853 or 1854 in or near Jackson County, Tenn. I
have run into a couple of mysteries in my attempt to trace his
lineage. He married Milla B. SKIMMAHORN, daughter of Wade and
Mariah Skimmahorn. First, when I read the marriage records for the
Jackson County, I found a marriage license issued to Millie
SKIMMAHORN and William SMITH in 1876. When I checked the 1880 TN
census I found Millie B. SKIMMAHORN listed with her husband Willie
SKIMMAHORN. I know they are the same people because the names of
their children are correct and they are living in the household
with her Grandmother, Mary SKIMMAHORN. In the 1900 Hopkins County
Kentucky census they are listed as William and Millie PHARRIS with
their children. I now wonder if William PHARRIS had a scrap with
the law in Tennessee. Does anyone have research resources that
would help me identify William Pharris? According to family
stories his father was also William and his mother was Sallie.
