Tribute of Respect

At a called meeting of Harrison Lodge, No. 114, Free and Accepted Masons, opened and held in the Masonic Hall, in Harrison, on the 29th day of April, A.D. 1872, A.L. 5872, Thomas H. RODDY, W. M, president, who explained the object was to pay the last tribute of respect to our deceased brother and W.M. of our Lodge, Dr. Alexander King RHINEHART.

On motion R. H. GATHRIE, B.A. MOSS and George O. CATE. were appointed a committee to prepare and report suitable resolutions.  Said committee submitted the following report and resolutions, which were adopted:

Whereas, we have received the painful and melancholy intelligence of the untimely death of our worthy brother, and acting Master of this Lodge, it is with heartfelt sorrow and painful emotion, that we have heard of this sudden and unexpected death. His untimely end admonishes us more than ever of the uncertainty of this life, and that “dangers stand thick through all the ground to push us to the tomb.” We mourn the sudden and untimely death of our brother, and in deep sorrow bow and humble resignation to this afflicting dispensation of Divine Providence, which deprives us of our W.M., a friend and brother.

The deceased was born in Jefferson county, Tenn, on the 23rd day of October, 1823. He was a graduate of Jefferson Medical College, located in the city of Philadelphia, Pa., and his Diploma bears date of the 6th day of March, 1850. He became a member of this Lodge May the 4th, 1868, and died the 22nd day of April, 1872.

Therefore, as we are assembled on this mournful occasion, we offer the following resolutions:

1st. Resolved, That we will accompany the remains of the deceased to the place of interment, and bury him with the usual Masonic honors.

2nd. Resolved, That we will cherish the memory of our deceased brother, and as a token we will wear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days.

3rd. Resolved, That we tender our heartfelt sympathies to the widow and family of the deceased.

4th. Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions and proceedings be furnished by the Secretary of this Lodge to the Cleveland Banner for publication, and a copy furnished to the widow.
