Tempers Flare in the House (1866)

In the House, on the 23d ult., the majority report recommending that the re-elected members be allowed to take their seats was non-concurred in by a vote of 42 to 18. The so-called representative of Hardeman, J. W. SMITH, stood cheek-by-jowl with ARNELL, who, as a matter of course, voted to non-concur. The gentlemen have been excluded.
