SHAVER, Houston and RODDY, Isabella – (m. 1882)

MARRIED — On Monday evet, 3d inst., by our popular J.P., Robert PORTER, Mr. J. Houston SHAVER to Miss Isabella RODDY.  Miss RODDY was reared in Knox county, but moved to Arkansas with her brother, Preston RODDY, a few years since.  Not finding any such men out in Kackumsack as Nail’s Creek affords, she returned to the home of her youth to make her selection.  She reached Knoxville on the 11 o’clock train Saturday night, where Mr. SHAVER, her brother Columbus and a friend were waiting to welcome her and convey her to this part of the vineyard, where they were united as soon as the necessary papers could be obtained.  Only think of it! if she had been two days later it would probably all have been over before she arrived, and then!
