Scrimmage on the R.P. Walt (1872)

We learn from parties who arrived in port yesterday on the Pat Cleburne that a small scrimmage took place on the R.P. Walt shortly after leaving this place on her last trip out. Harris CARTER, second steward on the Walt, was stabbed with an ice-pick by Alonzo GILBERT, a white man. CARTER’s wound is considered mortal.
