Locals

  • Mrs. Jim SWAFFORD was returned to Broyles Sanitarium, Dayton, last week for further treatment,and is reported to be improving.
  • Dr. D.A. GREER is reported to be resting fairly well at his home where he is ill. His many friends hope he will soon be well.
  • Mr. and Mrs. James BECKHAM, and daughter, Mary Lynn, were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. S.W. SWAFFORD.
  • The Fidells Class of the Pikeville Baptist Church met at the home of the president, Mrs. Tolbert LUAK, last Tuesday evening. The regular business session was held, at which time various plans were made and projects discussed for the coming year. Mrs. Carmel MILLS was in charge of the program which followed. Different religions of the world were described by those participating. The following took part on the program: Mesdames MILLS, Joe F. DEAKINS, L. L. SWAFFORD and Sam H. BROWN. Following the program, a dessert course was served to the following: Mesdames Joe DEAKINS, L.L. SWAFFORD, Fred K. ROBERSON, John KLOCK, Carmel MILLS, Carl SELLS, Sam H. BROWN, Miss Jessie Mae McWILLIAMS. Miss Margaret BACON was a guest.
  • Earl Howard MORGAN, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.J. MORGAN, has just recovered from an illness at his home.
  • Mrs. N.J. FERGUSON Sr. is recovering at her home from a minor operation which she underwent in Chattanooga last week.
