J.M. Drane in Town (1875)
Dyersburg Gazette: Mr. J.M. DRANE was in town the other day with a walking stick that had a row of knots on both sides – just enough knots in each row to spell “Andres Johnson.” Mr. DRANE is mighty right when he says such sticks will be very popular next year.
