Area Women Named to Publication – Eight area women have been selected to appear in the 1967 edition of “Outstanding Young Women of America,” an annual biographical compilation of 6,000 outstanding young women between the ages of 21 and 35. Included in this honor are Mrs. Doris Claire Trethaway OLDHAM, 407 E. Watauga Ave.; Jane L. WALLIS, 904 E. Maple St.; Mrs. Nancy Marie Bagley HAWKS, 911 Johnson Ave.; Gwen LLOYD, Jonesboro; Jacque Ann BUTLER, Elizabethton; Mildred Jean BAINES and Mrs. Ileta Emogene Fink RICHARDS, both of Fall Branch; Mrs. Joan B. HENSLEY, Kingsport and Mrs. Faye Zulah Evans ELWICK, Bristol. The annual compilation is a project of the Outstanding Americans Foundation, a nonprofit foundation dedicated to recognizing and honoring outstanding Americans. Selections are made by the Board of Advisory Editors on the basis of contributions and accomplishments in civic endeavors, religious, professional and political activities. Local women’s clubs through-out the country submit nominations for the book each year. A different group of outstanding young women is included each year. Guidelines for selection include unselfish service to others, charitable activities, community service, professional excellence, business advancement and civic and professional recognition.
