The following information on the James Currie, Jr. Family was copied by Mary E. Timberlake of D. A. R. in 1939
James Currie, Jr.
James Currie, Jr. was the son of James Currie, Sr., and Mary Catherine Armstrong Currie of Caswell Co., NC. He was born in Caswell Co., 26 April 1765.
He served as a soldier during the American Revolutionary War, and lived in Orange Co., NC. He married Sarah Black abt. 1790. After her death in 1835, James moved to Haywood Co., TN. He died in 1842 and is buried at Union Church, one of the oldest Presbyterian Churches in Haywood Co. He was the second person to be buried at Old Union. He mentions his children in his
will – Haywood Co., TN Records, Nov., 1842.

James Currie, Jr. and Sarah Black, his wife, were the parents of Martha Currie, wife of Enipson Walker. Enipson Walker and Martha Currie Walker were the parents of Aaron Walker, who married Martha Hannah Williams. Miss Bettie Walker, 414 E. College, N., Jackson, TN, is the daughter of Aaron and Martha
Hannah Williams Walker; she placed a Rev. Grave Marker given by Sons of Am. Rev. on the grave of James Currie, verified and accepted by the D. A. R. in 1923. See D. A. R. National No. 54992 and National No. 74985 of Miss Matie Caroline Fletcher, who was the first to establish the Rev. service of James Currie, Jr.
