Minor African American Batchelor Orphans Apprenticed in 1869 — from Haywood County Court Minutes

“Batchelor/Bachelors of African-American Descent” — Genealogy.com post dated 2007 by Charles Bachlor contains a good bit of information about early white Batchelor families, including those who were enslavers.  Bachlor wrote:

Although probably not pertinent to your search, two Batchelor brothers owned plantations on either side of the Haywood/Madison County line in western Tennessee and many of the descendants of their slaves now own farms there that formerly belonged to their “masters”.
