CAROLINA — Messrs Will and Preston MOORE of Durhamville spent several days here with their sister, Mrs. A. S. HIGGINS.
SOUTH HATCHIE — DON FORD, from Watson’s Business College returned Sunday after visiting relatives.
CASTELLOW TOWN — Little Misses Lucile and Mildred JACOCKS are visiting their cousins, Misses Kate and Ella JACOCKS. Mrs. Nora HILLUM of Jones Fall is visiting her mother, Mrs. Nancy CASTELLOW.
CALLED TO HEAVEN — Nettie, three-year-old daughter of Mr. & Mrs. George LATHAM: born October 10th, 1901 died August 15th, 1904. The death angel came and took from them their loving daughter, Nettie. (a Poem) Her sister, Pearl.

LOCAL NEWS —
R. E. KING, Esq. is slowly recovering from a nasty attack of fever.
The many friends of MISS ANNIE LEWIS MANN, who has been sick at her country home with typhoid fever, will be glad to learn that she is now clear of fever.
Last Thursday night J. V. CLICK had two new boarders to enter his home, a boy and a girl; mother and babies are doing well, and Mc is now working 14 hours a day.
Whiteville News. Mr. H. A. RAINEY and family of Forked Deer have moved to Brownsville and are occupying Mr. H. J. SMITH’s residence on Park Avenue. He and his family will meet a hearty welcome by our citizens.
Dr. C. J. GILBERT arrived here Tuesday with his family from Vincennes, Ind., and will make this his home. They are now living at Mrs. Ann MANN’s place, but contemplate buying a farm near town. We welcome them to our town.
Dr. Will H. MOODY and wife who recently moved from this county and located at Blytheville, Ark., have returned and will make Brownsville their home. They have rented the KINNEY storehouse where Mrs. MOODY will open a stock of millinery. Doctor, we understand will practice his profession.
Mr. Henry J. SMITH and his wife and children have moved to Jackson. He has for years represented the Union Central Life Insurance Company in this section.
MRS. MARY JOHNSON MILES — wife of Mr. Benj. C. MILES, died at her home on Jefferson street Wednesday at 9 p. m. after a very lingering period of suffering with comsumption. She was born in this county 58 years ago, the daughter of Mr. Henry JOHNSON. She leaves a husband and son to mourn her death; with two brothers, Henry and Robert JOHNSON; one sister, Mrs. W. B. CLAIRBORNE. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery.
THE REMAINS — of MILTON STERNBERGER, the unfortunate young man who was shot and killed by his wife in Memphis at 6 p. m. Tuesday were brought to Brownsville, his old home for burial, Rabbi TAMM officiating at the grave in the Jewish cemetery. Deceased was a son of Mr. & Mrs. Mose STERNBERGER. The two brothers of the deceased in Memphis will take the body to Brownsville at 12:45 p. m. over the Louisville & Nashville railroad. The parents, four brothers and sister of the deceased, residing in Philadelphia have been notified of the tragedy, but none will come to the funeral. ‘The deceased came to his death by pistol shot wound inflicted by Fannie Elizabeth STERNBERGER. ‘ The foregoing statement is the verdict of the coroners jury over the body of Milton STERNBERGER.
SOCIAL AND PERSONAL —
On Thursday evening August 25th at 6 o’clock at the home of Rev. J. H. AIKEN, a quiet marriage was solmnized the contracting parties being Mr. R. Walter COX and Miss Mosie N. AIKEN, Rev. L. L. BRIGANCE of Henderson officiating.
The news of a wedding that came somewhat a surprise was that of Mr. Guy DuROSS of the U. S. Navy and Miss Annie BESSER of this city. They were married in West End Methodist Church, Nashville on August 18th.
Mrs. D. W. COOK of Alamo has returned after a pleasant visit to her parents, Mr. & Mrs. J. H. AIKEN. She was accompanied home by her sister, Emie and brother Ral.
Mrs. L. E. EASTLAND has returned from a visit to Kentucky. She was accompanied home by her daughter, Miss Sadie.
