BELLS —
MILLER JOHNSON died in Bolivar last Friday. The remains were shipped to Alamo Saturday for burial.
JOHN W. TURNER and Bessie PEARSON were married last week in Alamo.

LOCAL NEWS —
GEORGE LUCAS, colored, charged with stealing a gun from Mr. J. W. CAMPBELL of the 9th District, was arrested Monday by Marshall RUSSELL. HENRY STOUT, colored is also implicated.
Mr. Thos. S. ANTHONY, chief deputy of this county is in Nashville attending a meeting of the Sheriffs of the State. He represents Sheriff SCOTT.
SOCIAL AND PERSONAL —
A marriage that came as a surprise to all their friends was the union of Mr. Jesse KINNEY and Miss Bessie Morton last Friday afternoon at the circuit parsonage, Rev. R. M. KING officiating. Mr. KINNEY is employed by Cumberland Telephone Co. and the bride is a daughter of Mr. John MORTON.
A marriage at the Baptist church Wednesday evening of two poplur people of Brownsville occurred, Dr. Albert W. LIVINGSTON and Miss Rosa Neal DAVIS. The bridal party consisted of Misses Blanche BUMPASS, Marion ANDERSON, Genevieve LIVINGSTON, and Etta WAGNER of Brownsville; Lotta COOPER of Ashport and Ethel EVERETT of Memphis, bridesmaids. Messrs. J. T. DAVIS and AAron STERNBERGER, Brownsville; J. J. O’Sullivan, Ripley; and Perry WILKES, Ashport, ushers. Rev. J. S. MOSES officiating. Reception at the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. Minnie Lee DAVIS.
Mrs. H. C. MAR of Weatherford, Texas is visiting Mrs. Wiley PATTON.
Mrs. Ann ARMSTRONG of South Texas is guest of Mrs. John MANN.
W. A. MORROW was called to Baltimore Md., on business this week.
Walter and Miss Nellie COX have returned from a visit to the World’s Fair.
Miss Bettie Kate KEATHLEY left for Dossville, Miss., where she will teach school.
Henry STONE and wife of Memphis are visiting her father, Dr. J. G. HAYWOOD.
Ab SANGSTER of Leland Miss., came up Wednesday to attend the marriage of his niece, Miss Rosa DAVIS.
Mrs. A. B. CARPENTER will arrive in a few days to attend the celebration of the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. & Mrs. Nathan ANDERSON.
Rev. James A. ANDERSON and wife of Conway, Ark., will arrive next week to be present at the 50th anniversary celebration of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Nathan ANDERSON. Mr.
