SOCIAL AND PERSONAL —
Miss BETTIE KIRBY and Mr. ERNEST KNIGHT were married Sunday, October 2nd in Memphis.
Mrs. MINNIE L. DAVIS announces the marriage of her daughter, ROSA to Mr. ALBERT WALTER LIVINGSTON on Wednesday, October 26th at 8 p. m. at the Baptist Church. Dr. LIVINGSTON is a prominent young dentist of this city.
A special in the Memphis Press Scimitar, Pine Bluff, Ark., October 12th says:Among the several noteable marriages of this fall in Pine Bluff will be that of Miss KNOX, daughter of Gen. R. M. KNOX of this city to JAMES M. WALKER which will occur at the Main Street M. E. Church South November 10th. Mr. WALKER is of Memphis where he manages the interests of Gibson Furniture Co.
Anderson DUPREE of Jackson is visiting parents, Mr. & Mrs. J. A. DUPREE. Col. Lewis H. BORUM of Paris, attended the marriage of his sister, Miss Marion BORUM here Tuesday.
Mrs. F. L. YANCEY has gone to Hanley to be with her sister, Mrs. NORWELL for several months.
Mrs. Lula PAYNE attended the BEAN-HAMBLETT marriage at Crockett Mills Wednesday evening.
DEATH OF MRS. CARLTON — Mrs. ADELINE A. CARLTON died at her home near Lebanon Church Friday, October 7th at 6 a. m. She was a daughter of Thomas P. and Rachel LIVINGSTON, and was born in the Orangeburg District, S. C., Feb. 14, 1839. She was married to Jasper N. CARLTON on November 14, 1859. To this marriage was given four sons and three daughters, all of whom with the father, survive her.
DEATH OF A SWEET CHILD — Already recorded earlier, but this includes the infan’t name; SIDNEY BERNARD HIGGINS, son of Mr. & Mrs. A. S. HIGGINS. He was buried at Trinity cemetery, Rev. FIZZELL officiating.
LOCAL NEWS —
Miss Ottie COPPEDGE is quite sick at her home northeast of town.
Mr. Hardy COBB, who about five weeks since had the misfortune to lose an arm while working a pea shredder, was in town Saturday, well and hearty, not in the least cast down, receiving the condolence of his friends.
The residence of Mr. Frank RUSSELL, three miles east of town was destroyed by fire on Sunday morning last. The origin of the fire was a defective flue. Loss on house and furniture about $2000; insurance $850.
