LOCAL NEWS —
GEO. W. BLACKWELL has bought the J. W. McLAUGHLIN farm containing 160 acres, one mile north of town; consideration, $4,000.00.
BEATRICE, a sweet little girl of Mr. & Mrs. S. M. WILLIAMS, died last Friday of the whooping cough and was buried Saturday afternoon at the family burying grounds.
MR. A. M. AUSTIN, this week sold to Mr. George BLACKWELL the tract of wooded land of ten acres just in front of the Dan BOND residence about one mile from town; consideration $500.00.
MR. S. L. CHAMBERS, depot agent for seventeen years has tendered his resignation to the L & N officials to take effect August 1st. Mr. CHAMBERS will locate in Texas. He is a fine business man familiar with his work and master of all its details, a perfect gentleman and his removel with his excellant family from our midst will be greatly regretted.
THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY — and a large circle of friends sorrow with Rev. & Mrs. W. D. JENKINS in the loss of their daughter PANSY who died Tuesday afternoon. She had been taken sick in May and though she rallied was better at times, she never recovered completely and Tuesday her bright young life went out. She was nearly 17-years-old. On Tuesday night her parents and sorrowing friends left with the body for Union City to lay it at rest beside her older sister, Matilda, who died a few years ago.
SOCIAL AND PERSONAL —
Mrs. Georgie INGRAM of Memphis is the guest of Mrs. Lida KILLEBREW at the Pythian. She came up on account of the sickness of her brother, Mr. W. R. LEIGH.
Mr. Hale BOND of Duncan, Indian Territory is here to see his brother, Mr. W. R. LEIGH. Mr. BOND is a prominent lawyer and city attorney of Duncan and doing a large practice.
