SOCIAL AND PERSONAL — Mr. & Mrs. L. C. NEWMAN of Stanton announce the marriage of their daughter, Bettye to Mr. John Freeman BROWNE of Yum Yum, Tenn. Ceremony will be at the Presbyterian church on January 4th, 1905.
TIBBS —
Miss Lula HARPER and nephew, Willie BURTON of Nashville are visiting their uncle, Mr. G. H. HARPER.
Mrs. Maria WATERS of Hollow Rock is visiting her brother, Mr. G. H. HARPER.
BELLS —
J. D. HALL has sold the electric light plant to George BROOKS.
L. G. GOODMAN is going to move to Arkansas in a few days.
J. D. BRIDGES and family of the Cypress vicinity moved to Arkansas Tuesday.
Amps WORRELL has sold his residence in Bells and will move to Memphis the first of January.
Mr. John BELL, formerly of Crockett county, died at Humboldt December 5th, aged 73 years.
Last Thursday evening, a negro cabin on Green HUGHES farm, north of town was destroyed by fire and a four-year-old child which was left in the house burned to death.
Mr. Fritz Nieman of St. Louis, formerly of Bells, died Monday and his remains were brought to Bells Tuesday and interred in Bellview Cemetery.
NUT BUSH — The report came today that Mr. James KIRKESS exchanged shots with a negro, the negro it is said drew a pistol and insulted him and Mr. KIRKESS got his shotgun to defend himself and the negro who was in Mr. KIRKESS’ barn lot, brandished his weapon and dared Mr. KIRKESS to come out, which he did, he shot at the negro and the negro shot at him twice.
