LAUDERDALE VILLAGE NEARLY DESTROYED — At Curve, a village in Lauderdale county, near Ripley, fire this morning destroyed J. G. THOMPSON’s grocery, A. DUNAVANT’s drug store, Dr. J. A. BRADFORD’s office, and the Masonic lodge-room over it, and B. D. GAINES’ residence. No insurance was carried by any one but THOMPSON, and the total loss will reach nearly $7,000.
LOCAL NEWS —
BORN to Mr. & Mrs. P. B. CLARKE, s fine son. The little fellow is now more than a week old.
The tragic death of W. B. HENDERSON of Memphis deeply shocked his many friends in this county. Mr. HENDERSON, as a legislator and as a lawyer had achieved for himself an eminent position and his sad death ends a life that was bright with promise.
Carl, the three-year-old son of Mr. & Mrs. JAMES LIVINGSTON, died Saturday at 4 a. m. at the family residence on South Margin street, of pneumonia. The remains were interred in Oakwood Cemetery, Rev. R. M. KING officiating.
An unfortunate difficulty occurred last Saturday afternoon in the Merchants poolroom between WALTER BOND and AB WHITEHURST, both prominent young white men, in which BOND was seriously if not fatally shot.
Rev. B. M. CURRIE who was born and raised in this county and a younger brother of Capt. Geo. T. & W. T. CURRIE of this city, is making a reputation in Ky. as a speaker.

Lester, the bright little son of Mr. N. J. FORREST of Hanley is quite sick with pneumonia.
Mrs. Maggie BOND, of Memphis came Monday night to attend the bedside of her brother, Mr. Walter BOND.
Mrs. Cal HARBERT, of Memphis is in the city. She was summoned to the bedside of her wounded brother, Mr. Walter BOND.
Hon. & Mrs. Frank P. BOND of Nashville are here this week. They came down to be with Mr. Walter BOND in his suffering. Mrs. BOND is his sister.
