REIN — Mr. & Mrs. Frank DOWAN and family and Messrs. Young SMOTHERS and Bob Lee PITNER attended the funeral of MISS ELLA WHITE last Wednesday. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Hardy Neal of Alamo and Rev. J. C. W. NUNN, of Bells.
DR. A. W. SMITH — well-known in this county, died suddenly at his office in Ripley Thursday of last week.
MR. WILLIAM TISDALE — An old Confederate soldier and prominent citizen, dropped dead at his home in Hardeman County on Monday of last week. Many relatives of the deceased live in this county.
MR. JOHN C. WHARTON — died at his home in this city last Monday after a lingering illness. He was taken sick about the first of this year and but little hope has been entertained at any time for his recovery. He leaves a wife and six children; one brother, WILL WHARTON of Madison County. He was buried last Tuesday at the cemetery in Denmark, Rev. UNDERWOOD officiating.
MR. C. C. MOODY — died at the home of his son, J. L. MOODY, at the advanced age of 68 years. He died suddenly of heart trouble. He leaves seven children to mourn the loss of a devoted father; three of whom reside in Little Rock, Ark. The four others live in Haywood and Crockett Counties. None of them were here with him at the time of his death but all of them attended the burial at Jones Station.
IN MEMORY OF MATTIE MAY RAINEY — On the evening of March 15th, 1904, the Death Angel entered the community of Eureka and claimed for it’s victim MRS. MATTIE MAY RAINEY, aged 26 years. She was the daughter of H. A. and Maggie RAINEY. On the 22nd of May 1901, she was happily married to Mr. Thomas C. RAINEY Jr., of Jackson, Tenn, Rev. Lewis D. HAMILTON officiating. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. B. T. FUZZELL, her remains interred in the Eureka cemetery. By Mrs. B. T. FUZZELL.
SOCIAL AND PERSONAL —
A wedding of social importance and wide interest was that of Miss Mamie McKINNEY and Aaron Y. WALKER, was solomnized Tuesday afternoon at the home of Col. John A. McKINNEY at Jackson.
A marriage was solmnized last Sunday at 2:30 p. m. at Wellwood, Miss Elsie EDWARDS and Mr. E. S. CRUTCHFIELD being the contracting parties, Esq. C. P. PIPKINS officiating.
Mr. James A. WHITEHEAD and Miss Annie BOYD were married at the home of the bride’s sister, Mrs. W. H. WRIGHT, near this city Tuesday evening, Rev. C. S. SHOLL officiating.
Mrs. J. C. WHARTON and family left Wednesday for Jackson where they will make their future home.
