CATALPA — R. L. OVERTON son of Mr. John OVERTON of the 7th district of Madison County died at his father’s residence near Catalpa Thursday morning, September 29th. He was buried at Providence Friday following services by Rev. H. B. TERRY. He was about 30 years old, leaves his parents, four brothers, a bright-eyed little boy and a sweet little girl to mourn his loss.
REIN — We are sorry to report that MR. THOMAS J. MANN, whose sickness was reported last week, died Sunday at 10 a. m. and was buried at Zion Baptist Church at 11 a. m. Monday. He leaves three children, three brothers and one sister to mourn him. We deeply sympathize with his little children especially, whose mother died something over a year ago.
LOCAL NEWS —
THOMAS J. MANN a substantial citizen of the 5th district died at his home last Sunday. He was well-known in Brownsville having serves for many years as cotton weigher at the depot.
Making Corrections — on the death of MRS. HARRIET S. TAYLOR; she died at her old home where she had lived for 65 years. Besides her daughters and their children, she leaves two grandchildren, J. R. TAYLOR and Mrs. F. M. BELL, children of her deceased son, James M. TAYLOR.
SOCIAL AND PERSONAL —
Mr. MOREAU PINCKEY ESTES and Miss CLARIBEL RUSSELL TURNER were married at Gallatin Wednesday, September 14, 1904.
The friends of W. A. ALLEN will be interested in learning of his approaching marriage to Mrs. MARIE B. HUDDLESTON at Hot Springs on the 15th of this month. He is from Haywood County. They will make their home in Texarkana.
Mrs. T. J. SIMMONS of Bells, came down Saturday to attend the funeral of her uncle, J. L. LIVINGSTON.
Miss CLEO HEARON of Columbus, Miss., the new teacher in the Public School arrived Wednesday.
Mr. & Mrs. John CONNER Sr., of Ripley, passed through the city yesterday enroute to Russellville, Ky., on a visit to their son, Verser CONNER, a prominent hardware merchant living in that city.
DEATH OF JAMES L. LIVINGSTON — He died at his home near Lebanon Friday last. He was a son of the late Thomas P. and Rachel LIVINGSTON, was born in the Orangeburg District, S. C., Feb., 22, 1831, came to Tennessee with his family in the fall of 1847, settling in the 7th district where he resided until his death. He was married to Ann W., a daughter of the late Major Anthony CARLTON, Dec. 12, 1860. He was Sgt. of Co. M 7th Tennessee Cavalry April 12, 1862, later Lieut., where he served until surrender with Gen. Forrest at Gainsville, Ala., May 10, 1865. Surviving him; a widow, three sons, six daughters and numerous grandchildren. He also left a brother, Judge H. J. LIVINGSTON; and two sisters, Mrs. W. C. McCONNICO and Mrs. J. N. CARLTON. Burial in Lebanon Church Cemetery.
